Rod McDonald signs for Carlisle United

Experienced defender Rod Mcdonald starts a new venture in his career after signing for Carlisle United from AFC Wimbledon on a free transfer. The 28-year-old began his academy football with Stoke City and Manchester City before spending a portion of his time in the non-league circuit. Mcdonald then successfully signed for Northampton, where he clocked up over 50 appearances and played a catalyst role in winning the league. Rod then had consecutive successful seasons with AFC Wimbledon before deciding it was time for a change.

Manager Chris Beech said: “I’m delighted to have Rod in with us. This is an excellent signing. He adds experience and know-how to a young and ambitious group of players. “He’s 6ft 3, a great age at 28, left-footed, commands the box well and wins the ball. He has very good feet on the deck and a very good out ball, something you don’t always find in big centre halves.”

Good Luck Rod
