Gary Mellor receives honorary fellowship from UCFB & GIS

Beswicks Sports Director Gary Mellor has been awarded an honorary fellowship by the University Campus of Football Business and the Global Institute of Sport (UCFB & GIS).

The honorary fellowship recognises Gary’s outstanding contribution to UCFB & GIS and the support that he has given to staff and students.

Gary is the first ever recipient of an honorary fellowship from the university, which was founded in 2011 with the aim of providing tailored degrees to meet the growing need for specialised managerial skills in football and sports.

UCFB now has bases at the Etihad in Manchester and Wembley Stadium, while GIS boasts hubs in Melbourne, New York, Miami, Toronto and Atlanta, where thousands of students get to experience and learn about the global sports industry.

Commenting on receiving the honorary fellowship Gary said: “I was both proud and humbled to accept the honorary fellowship from UCFB & GIS. Thank you to the inspirational team at the university and very best wishes to this year’s graduates. It’s reassuring to know that the future of sport is in their safe hands.”

As well as being the founder of Beswicks Sports, Gary is a leading sports lawyer and FA intermediary. He has worked with clubs on both sides of the Atlantic, advising owners, directors, managers and coaches. Top-flight clubs rely on Gary for advice on matters including club acquisitions, growth and development, recruitment and transfer strategies, sponsorship, dispute resolution, immigration, regulatory and disciplinary issues, to name but a few.
