Chris McCann signs his new contract with Oldham Athletic

Chris McCann signs a new contract at Oldham Athletic after joining the club in October on a short term contract making his debut the following day against Macclesfield Town.

Chris progressed through the youth system at Burnley making his senior debut in the 2005/06 season against Coventry in a 4-0 win. His Premier League season with Burnley in 2009/10 was cut short due to injury after impressing in the first 7 games of the season. After 268 appearances for the club he moved to Wigan on 26th June 2013

A move to North America followed for Chris in 2017 where he became one of Atlanta United’s very first signings where he went on to make 26 appearances for the Five Stripes in their debut MLS Season. He followed that up playing a vital role in the 2018 season where Atlanta won the MLS Cup Chris signed for D.C United ahead of the 2019 MLS Season but after making 7 appearances they parted ways to allow Chris to return to the UK.

McCann has represented the Republic of Ireland at U17,U18, U19 levels and was also called up for the 2009 European U21 Championship qualifiers.
